How To Become Successful Living A Purpose Driven Life?

Everyone has their own definition of success and we make efforts every day to achieve our individual life goals. Some people measure success in terms of money, health, or family. Others may measure success by obtaining their dream career or business. Some measure success by having happy and beautiful relationships. The terminology of success is different from person to person. In this blog post, I will define success as it relates to living a purpose-filled life.

Purpose Defined?

To understand success, we must first understand what purpose truly is. Your purpose is not a magical place but your purpose is defined as serving a particular group (or even one person) to help them reach an expected outcome. Let me break this down a little more. If you are a teacher, your primary purpose may be to help children become educated so that they will have the confidence to go out in the world and make an impact. If you are a health coach, your purpose may be to help individuals live a healthy life without having to take prescription medication. Your purpose could also be to help stop violence within a particular community. Or your purpose could be to help individuals who are less fortunate so they are able to take care of themselves. Lastly, your purpose may be to raise amazing children so that they can one day grow up to become someone who will make a dynamic change in this world.

For each scenario, that I mentioned, there is an expected outcome for you serving for your purpose.   Your purpose is what should drive you and wake you up every morning.  I strongly believe that you should pray about your purpose so you can serve a God-driven purpose. If you are unclear, pray and ask “God who am I called to serve?”

What is  Success?

Personal success is your earthly reward for serving your God-fulfilled purpose. Your reward can come in the form of personal satisfaction; knowing the work that you are doing is making an impact on the people that you serve. Your reward can be the salary of truly doing what you are called to do. Your reward could be in the form of public recognition.  Your reward can also be the change that in individual, group or community has as a result of you serving them. Success, as it relates to your purpose, is achieving the expected outcome of serving your purpose.

What Does It Mean To Serve Your Purpose?

Serving your purpose requires you to have a vision. Well, let’s define vision. Vision is taking the image of success (that expected outcome) and mapping out a plan on how to achieve that success. To serve your purpose you must have a plan of action that is coupled with your faith.  Visionaries and people of purpose are PLANNERS! In Habakkuk 2:2 it says “write” the vision or write the plan on how to serve your purpose. Once you have the plan, you must take consistent dedicated action  ACTION to follow the plan!!  Taking consistent dedicated action is the key to seeing your purpose manifested on earth.

The next step in serving your purpose is to simply start. I know for some of you, this may seem difficult. You may think you do not have the resources to start the massive vision that God has given you. Starting is the only way for you to become successful in serving your vision. For example, if your purpose is to help those less fortunate, you can start by serving meals at your local shelter or partnering with a non-profit until you are able to get the resources to serve them via your vision. We often-times think we have to start big, the reality is that we just have to start. That is how to become successful in serving your purpose.

Mapping Out A Vision That Serves Your Purpose

Your vision describes the life purpose that God has given you. Experts suggest that vision is the essential ingredient to frame the ultimate destiny of life and it must be fulfilled with hope and passion. If you want to succeed in fulling your purpose, it is important to create a vision plan. There are so many reasons to map your vision a few of them are listed below:

  • It gives us a sense of living; a vision plan makes our life more valuable, and meaningful.
  • A Vision map triggers us to design tangible goals for life and set up the desired steps to achieve them.
  • Vision holds us accountable to be consistent and dedicated to our purpose

God Never Ordained Anything Without Purpose

One final thought, live in purpose because everything about your life is based on purpose. You are not here to waste time, you are here for a purpose. Listen clearly, no one else can do what you are called to do the way you are called to do it.

Have you ever had an idea of how to change the world, your community or even your family? Even though you had a life-changing idea you decided not to ACT upon it and somebody “stole” your idea and are now having massive success with it?  God has given us all purpose and a vision.  If we choose not to fulfill that purpose there is someone that God will use and replace us to fulfill that purpose.

No matter what stage you are in life, it is never too late to find your real purpose by first seeking God.  I want to challenge you to seek God for your purpose.
